The Rock opened the show by first giving a "hell no!" to Cena's offer of teaming with him against Awesome Truth at Survivor Series, but then explained that he would but only because he also hated The Miz and R-Truth. The promo had entertaining moments, as you expect from the great one.
CM Punk lost to Mark Henry via disqualification in a match where John Laurinaitis said that if Punk won he would get to face Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. The DQ came after Rodriguez attacked Henry to purposely stop CM Punk from winning. The actual match was short (which is always best when it involves Mark Henry) but decent enough, CM Punk provided the majority of the entertainment. Afterwards an angered Punk attacked Del Rio and then Rodriguez who he sent into the ring to be world's strongest slammed by Henry.
There was then an amusing at parts segment involving Kermit the frog, Miss Piggy, Vickie Guerrero, Jack Swagger, Kelly Kelly and Santino Marella.
Eve Torres won a Divas battle royal to become the number one contender. The match was a typical divas battle royal really, nothing particularly special. After the bout Eve, Kelly and Alicia Fox squared off against Beth Phoenix (who had done commentary for the match) and Natalya who backed away from the larger numbers.
Backstage there was quite a funny moment between Sheamus and Beaker where the great white mentioned that they were related.
Wade Barrett and Cody Rhodes defeated Air Boom in an entertaining tag team bout, it's like Kingston and Bourne can do no wrong right now. Wade Barrett grabbed the one-two-three after applying the Wasteland to Bourne. Christian came out after and began to beat on Air boom with Rhodes and Barrett until Sheamus took them out and scared them off. It seems they're aiming towards a traditional five on five Survivor Series match up involving these wrestlers which I think could be great.
Backstage John Laurinaitis informed Punk that to get a WWE Championship shot after being screwed by Rodriguez earlier all he had to do was get Del Rio to agree to it.
Big Show defeated Alberto Del Rio in a stupid decision by WWE. Just after Del Rio was beginning to recover a little from his loss to Cena at Night Of Champions they decide to have him loose cleanly to Big Show. Big Show? The guy who is still poor in the ring, overweight and in no way a prospect for the future like Del Rio. The match itself was boring and far too long. Punk joined del Rio after and applied the anaconda vice grip until Del Rio agreed to put his title on the line against him at Survivor Series. I reckon it should be one of the better bouts on the night.
Santino Marella defeated Jack Swagger after he spat out some strange formula Beaker had concocted for him and got the pin. The match was pretty average, and the crowd got quite bored and began chanting "Woo woo woo" and "We want Ryder" during it.
Zach Ryder beat Dolph Ziggler in an entertaining match after performing the rough ryder on him. They surely have to have Ryder versus Ziggler at Survivor Series in New York and have him finally win the United States championship.
John Cena defeated The Miz in the main event which made no sense regarding the current storyline. The whole point of Cena teaming with The Rock at Survivor Series is to take out Awesome Truth who he supposedly couldn't handle on his own, yet right here he took both men out all by his Superman self. As Miz and him began to fight outside the ring R-Truth, disguised as an audience member, began to strangle Cena until he turned around and walloped him. After the distraction and attack by Truth that is when Miz should've gained the upper hand and gained the tainted win like a typical heel, thus carrying on the idea that Awesome Truth are too much for Cena alone and that he really does need The Rock's help. Instead all they did was have Cena go through them both easily and prove that he probably doesn't need Rock's help at all. No sense at all.
