Chris Jericho has been "suspended indefinitely due to an irresponsible act of denigrating the Brazilian flag at a WWE live event in São Paulo on May 24."
We previously reported that Jericho had been threatened with arrest for his actions with the Brazilian flag, and more information has come to light since the incident.
According to TMZ, CM Punk was waving the Brazilian flag in the ring when Jericho stole the flag out of Punk's hands, crumpled it and booted it out of the ring.  Local police immediately interrupted the match and informed Jericho that desecrating the flag was a crime punishable by incarceration.  The police gave Jericho the option to go to jail or apologize to the crowd.  Upon issuing an apology to the audience, the police allowed the event to continue.
The spot with the flag was not planned or approved by management, according to TMZ's sources.
WWE also stated they "have apologized to the citizens and the government of Brazil for this incident."
A second article contains a verbal response from Jericho, where he says he "made a bad judgment call in the course of entertaining [WWE] fans in Brazil.  I apologized to the people in the crowd for showing disrespect."
"It was a bad move," he continued.  "I did it with [our] fans' entertainment in mind and I'll accept the consequences for that."

A lot of fans have already called the suspension an angle of some sort on WWE's part. I'm not convinced that's the case myself but you never know. I'm sure it was an honest mistake on Jericho's part, I mean, remember Shawn Michaels wiping his nose on the Canadian flag years ago? It's just part of the act.

Here's the incident itself:
